Meyer Burger (Germany) GmbH is one of the world's leading manufacturers of photovoltaic production equipment and innovative process solutions for highly efficient solar cells.
It currently employs almost 300 people at its Hohenstein-Ernstthal site. In photovoltaics, the focus is mainly on equipment for the deposition of passivation and functional layers but also complete production lines, e.g. for the manufacture of heterojunction solar cells.
Meyer Burger (Germany) GmbH has its own heterojunction pilot production line, where new machines and processes can be evaluated under quasi-industrial conditions. In addition, the Technology Development Center at the Hohenstein-Ernstthal site industrializes novel generations of solar cell technology for the Meyer Burger Group. It develops the mass production equipment that will later be used at the company's own production facility in Thalheim (Bitterfeld-Wolfen).
MBG thus has unique and comprehensive knowledge from R&D process development to scaling and industrialization to independent implementation on machine platforms.
MB is leading Task 3.3 on Silicon module adaption, where the silicon cells will be optimized for the two novel tandem concepts of SITA.
An important aspect thereby is the voltage matching realised by Silicon mini-modules for the Circuitry 2T tandem. MB will push forward the exploitation of the SITA's technology based on their know-how as producing industry.
